Hatha Yoga~ A general and classical approach to yoga breathing exercises and postures, unique in combining the breath with the posture creating a more calm and peaceful nervous system response. Gain flexibility, reduce stress, improve blood flow and immunity as well as posture and well being.
Flow Yoga~ A practice that flows from one pose to the next using the breath. It is a challenging, well choreographed flow that works every part of the body, encouraging the removal of toxins, opening and aligning body and mind.
Hatha Flow Yoga~ A combination of Hatha and Flow.
Power Yoga~ An active and athletic style including vinyasa flow, core strength work and challenging poses, however variations are given to suit all bodies and maintaining a mindful practice is encouraged.
Hot Vinyasa Yoga~ A dynamic practice in a heated room of between 80-90 degrees, helping you experience cardiovascular improvements, strength, stamina, flexibility and relaxation.
Yin Yoga~ Involves variations of seated and supine poses typically held for 3 to 5 minutes, accessing deeper layers of fascia, stimulating the flow of chi through the body, inducing emotional release, deep relaxation and opportunity for reflection and meditation.
Restorative Yoga~ Emphasis on relaxation. Longer held seated, prone and supine postures heavily supported by props.
Gentle Yoga and Movement~ An exercise class to mobilise joints, strengthen muscles, increase flexibility, improve balance and spatial awareness and generally keep the body healthy. Exercises include standing, seated and mat work, however many variations are given to suit all bodies. Pilates and Tai Chi inspired movement combined with chair and or mat yoga stretches. No minimum or maximum age limit however the class is low impact, slow pace and mindful of the older body.
Barre Fit~ Exercises are based in ballet, yoga and pilates, no prior experience is necessary. A typical class begins with a cardio warm-up, followed by exercises at the barre/chair or wall to strengthen and tone, followed by mat based exercises inspired by yoga and pilates techniques, finishing with a stretch.
Contemporary Dance~ A style of expressive dance combining elements from several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet amongst many others. Kara's class includes warm-up, technique, floor work, travelling sequences, a centre dance phrase and stretches to finish.
Dancing Through Time~ Chair based exercises to music followed by standing dance steps and sequences (seated options too). Various styles of music and dance are included. Guideline age 70+ A chance to chat over tea and coffee is included at the end of the class.
Movement For The Mind~Gentle exercise to music in a supportive and dementia friendly group setting. The interactive sessions are blend of exercise, reminiscence and fun!
