Contemporary Dance
These two hour sessions include a led improvisation warm-up, technique, floor work, travelling sequences, a centre dance phrase and stretches to finish. Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance combining elements from several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet amongst many others. Kara's sessions focus on organic movement with breath, releasing tension and inviting a sense of freedom into the body!

A Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra to restore energy and rest the body during the hectic festive season.
Restorative Yoga is a slow gentle practice of lying down and seated poses heavily supported by props, helping us move into the parasympathetic nervous system, slow down the heart rate, lower blood pressure, reduce fatigue and eliminate stress.
Yoga Nidra is a guided relaxation known as 'yogic sleep'. It balances the emotional, physical, mental, layers of the body, improving cognitive function, sleep and reducing stress and anxiety by triggering relaxation responses.

108 Sun Salutations for Winter Solstice
Sunday 21st December, 10am-12pm
New Oriel Hall, Larkhall, Bath
The practice of 108 sun salutations on the winter solstice to celebrate the changing of the seasons
and to symbolize the transition from darkness to light and the growth of the self.
The number 108 is sacred in the Yogic traditions and has many spiritual meanings across different cultures.
We will discuss these during the workshop alongside the 108 sun salutations. Modifications for the sun salutations will be given so that everyone can participate in a way that they are comfortable with. And don't worry if you can't manage the whole 108, you can rest whenever you need to!
We will finish with relaxation and some festive treats and warm drinks.
